3 tips for staying on track during your next vacation

When we go on vacation, we tend to only see the rewards of overindulging, lounging, and drinking tons of alcohol. I’m not telling you to not do these things, however, we can do these activities in moderation and greatly minimize the negative affects of travel.

Here are three tips that you can use on your next vacation:

  1. Indulge, but Don’t Overeat: Having a dessert, a drink, etc. is not bad on it’s on. It’s when we have 6-8 drinks or dessert at every meal that things start to roll down hill quickly. At your next meal, have what you like, but when you start to feel full, put your fork down and wait 5-10 minutes. If after the wait you are still hungry, you can eat more, but most likely you will be done with the meal. Letting the brain catch up to your stomach is a fantastic way to minimize overeating

  2. Stay Active: Plan out activities that keep you moving each day. Whether that’s going for a hike, walking through shops, or going on a fun excursion, explore and have fun in your new surroundings!

  3. When the Vacation is Over, It’s Back to Business: It’s easy to fall into this trap. “I’ll get start next week,” is a recipe for disaster, because it’s easy to keep pushing that keep off over and over again. I set aside a 1/2 day or full day when I get back from vacation that I am not working. This allows me to go shopping, get in a workout, and reset before going back to work and getting back into the flow of normal life.
